The Gordon JCC's after school program provides transportation for students at Akiva, Harpeth Valley, and Westmeade Elementary.
Are you looking for a home-away-from-home for your kindergarten through 4th grader? Our after-school program provides a safe, healthy and creative environment, earning a three-star (the highest) rating for programming from the State of Tennessee Department of Human Services.
Kids Konnection runs from 2:30 to 6 p.m--and your kids will love every minute. We have a snack, then we may spend time on our huge Pargh Playground, swim in our indoor pool and play in our gym. Activities, structured and unstructured, are geared to developing social, physical, and cognitive skills. We know homework is important, so tutors are on hand to help your child complete their tasks. Books, games, puzzles and friends are always here too!
Our calendar reflects the schedules of Akiva and Metro Public Schools, and we are open even when school isn't. We offer transportation from Akiva, West Meade and Harpeth Valley.
Kids Konnection is beyond basic care. We operate wholly different than many after school programs stuffed into a gym with a box of supplies and few staff. We keep a low ratio based on the high national standards of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Our staff to child ratio is capped at 1:10, this is incredibly lower than the state requirement of 1:25. This super low ratio, combined with excellent kid-friendly staff amount to a first-rate facility uniquely situated to provide the best care for your child.
Two separate-but-linked classrooms allow us to provide planned activities and games in one room, while keeping the other room quieter for homework, reading and low key activities. The facilities of the JCC allow us to spend lots of time outside the classroom too!

To register for Kids Konnection, our after school child care program:
- 1. Your child must be 5 by August 30th, AND beginning Kindergarten in the fall. DHS regulations prevent us from accepting Pre-kindergarten or Jr kindergarten children.
- 2. You must be in good standing with the GJCC (no past due balances).
- 3. Fill out the Kids Konnection Enrollment Form downloadable on this page. (You'll need a printer.) Westmeade students will need to return the transportation form to the school at least one week prior.
- 4. Contact our Youth and Family Director, Claire Bernstein, for a visit.
After your initial visit, Claire will be able to take your information to determine eligibility and room in the program. Typicially, this takes only a few days from start to finish and you can start your child. If transportation is required, some scheduling preparation may be necessary.
